If you’ve never been to our office before, here are two easy routes you could take, starting from The Cockeysville Branch of the Baltimore County Public Library:
Get onto Greenside Dr heading south, then turn right onto Padonia Rd. Turn left onto Deereco Rd. Continue straight on Greenspring Dr. After you pass the medical center, we’re on the corner of the block with Coppermine Health & Fitness.
Instead, you could turn left onto York Rd from Padonia Rd, then turn right onto Timonium Rd and right again onto Greenspring Dr. Take the very first left into our parking lot! We’re at 108 W Timonium Rd Ste 200.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Timonium, nestled in Baltimore County, Maryland, is a vibrant community with a rich history that dates back to its days as part of the Lutherville-Timonium CDP. By the 2020 census, Timonium boasted a population of 10,458, highlighting its growth and development over the years. This area is famously home to the Maryland State Fair, a beloved annual event held near Labor Day, which continues a long-standing tradition of thoroughbred horse racing once celebrated at the historic Timonium Race Course, as well as at other notable Maryland tracks like Pimlico and Laurel Park.
The name “Timonium” itself has an evocative history, derived from the Timonium Mansion owned by Mrs. Archibald Buchanan. Stricken with grief from the loss of her eyesight and the death of a dear friend, Mrs. Buchanan likened her life’s sorrows to those of Mark Antony post the Battle of Actium. The mansion was thus named after Antony’s unfinished retreat in Alexandria, Egypt.
The state fair, which has become a cornerstone of community life, began in 1878 when Maryland businessmen launched a successful event in nearby Lutherville. Although initially disrupted by the expansion of the Northern Central Railway, their perseverance led to the establishment of the permanent fairgrounds on the Timonium Estate in 1879, transforming the area into a hub of activity and celebration, accessible by rail and the historic York Turnpike.
